A small wedding under the Macedon Ranges pines
Ruby and Finn married in late summer under a stand of old pines in the Macedon Ranges. Thirty of their people sat on hay bales and folding chairs in the dry grass, and the wind kept moving the pines, so the shade moved too and everyone shuffled their chairs to follow it.
Finn’s sister read a poem she’d finished the night before, and Ruby’s little brother held the rings until the very last moment. When it was done they wandered off through the long grass together and came back with seed heads caught in the hem of her dress.
